August 20, 2006 - Buena Vista Parks & Recreation announces sign ups for Labor Day Weekend Events

Buena Vista Parks & Recreation to present the Annual Labor Day Parade.  A large crowd is expected on September 4, 2006 at 10:00 am at the Annual Buena Vista Labor Day Parade.  Parade entry forms are currently being accepted.  No entry fee.  To get an entry form & a list of rules & regulations contact the Glen Maury Park office at 261-7321.

The 2006 Labor Day celebration in Buena Vista will include the annual Miss Labor Day pageant.  The pageant is to be held on September 2 at 7 p.m. at Glen Maury Park.  There will be four age categories – Miss Labor Day, ages 16 – 20; Junior Miss, ages 12 – 15; Little Miss, ages 7 – 11; and Tiny Miss, ages 4 – 6.  Participants must reside in Rockbridge County, Buena Vista, or Lexington.

Contestants will model sportswear and gowns and will be asked to answer questions on stage.  Cost to enter the pageant is $35.  Optional events will be photogenic, $10; portfolio, $15; and talent, $15.  Scoring for optional events will not be added to a contestant’s final score. 

A rehearsal will take place on August 31^st at 6 p.m.  Entry forms, which are available at the Glen Maury Park office, must be completed and returned at or before rehearsal on Aug. 31.  No late entries will be accepted.  Please contact the Glen Maury Park office at 261-7321 for additional information.
